The TEF® is the solution!

Created in 1998 by the French Language Centre of the CCI Paris Ile-de-France, the TEF is an international benchmark test that measures your level of knowledge and skills in French.
What is TEF about?
  • Studying in France (TEF for Studies in France)
  • Certify the level of French in a professional to assess the level of French employees through recruitment, to position students as part of training or mobility, etc.
What are the tests?
At HEC, the test is conducted in paper format. There are usually two sessions per academic year (one in December and one in May).
The goal of EFT is to evaluate the French skills of the candidate using a scale of 7 levels that ranges from 0+ level (basic skills) to level 6 (complete control). This scale refers to the 6 levels of skills A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework for Languages ​​(CEFR) of the Council of Europe.
3 written tests:
  • Reading (EC) 60 min – 50 questions – 300 points
  • Writing (EE) 60 min – 2 issues to deal with – 450 points
  • Vocabulary and structure (LS) 30 min – 40 questions – 240 points
2 oral tests:
  • Listening (CO) 40 min – 60 questions – 360 points
  • Speaking (EO) 15 min – 2 issues to deal with – 450 points
The procedures vary depending on the version chosen EFT. Here is the test structure for CET:

After the test and after correction of tests, a certificate of results is communicated to the applicant. It shows the scores on each event.
If desired, the candidate may take the test several times. A two-month waiting period is required between two successive reversals.
